The snow and the sickness of the last couple weeks really took the wind out of my sails and I fell off the wagon last week.
Did you know that "falling off the wagon" is a prohibition era saying? There'd be wagoneers with water who would spray off road dust and thusly someone "being on the wagon" meant that they had made a commitment to drink water only. So, when people did reach for that liquid courage poison, they were now "off the wagon". Although the saying had its origins in the context of just alcohol use, it has become a a catch all for anytime a self commitment needs a restart.
I felt pretty crappy that I hadn't done everything I set out to do in these weeks and was beginning negative self talk/thought which made it harder for me to get moving. Some light meditation and my therapist helped me to accept that these things happen and there's nothing better than getting back to it. Not fulfilling 100% of what I intended doesn't make me a bad person who is undeserving of love and attention, it just makes me a regular schemgular person who has plenty of love and attention.
Ever onward!
